Adlon is a place that has hosted presidents, royalty and other international personalities. During the World Cup, it will be the “home” of the delegacy, that has reserved 300 rooms.
The most clear explanation to the prize is the 420-square-meters surface filled with pompousness and details that make it unique: King George style English furniture, Versailles parquet floor, walls armored with red silk and panoramic view to the Holocaust Memorial and the Potsdamer Platz, which nowadays is a business center where the games will be watched on huge television screens.
“We have adapted to the security needs and the demand for equipment that has increased sensibly” said Thomas Klippstein, executive director of the hotel.
FIFA has reserved 300 of the 350 rooms this five-stars hotel has available. The hotel is set in front of the notorious Brandeburgo Door, where part of the Berlin Wall extended.
To accompany the intimacy required by the stars that have visited the hotel -Chinese president Hu Jintao, Queen Elizabeth II of England, the singer Michael Jackson, who in 2002 caused a scandal by suspending his baby out of the hotel window-, the building has two private elevators that communicate the presidential suite with the underground parking lot.
To fix some small details, they have spent four million euros.
